Steadier Movement for Holbrook Residents

Dizziness, unsteadiness, and a fear of falling can quietly shrink a person's world. BD Physical Therapy has offered balance and gait training, vestibular therapy, and geriatric physical therapy since opening in Randolph in 2013. An evaluation looks at how you stand, walk, turn, and react, and whether the inner ear or vision is contributing to your symptoms. From there, your therapist builds a program that grows more challenging as your control improves.

The same evaluation-first approach supports neurological and age-related needs. The practice offers the LSVT BIG program for people living with Parkinson's disease, post-concussion therapy, and strength work for bone health. Sessions are always one-on-one, and each phase ends with exercises you continue at home so your gains carry into daily life. Your home program is written to fit the space and time you actually have.

Supporting Active Days in Holbrook

Holbrook offers good reasons to stay on your feet, from the town-owned access points along North Shore Road at 37-acre Lake Holbrook to the wooded paths, ponds, and old stone walls of the 115-acre Holbrook Town Forest. Uneven forest ground is exactly where balance training earns its keep. For student athletes at Holbrook Middle-High School, a head injury or ankle sprain calls for a graded return to play, and for commuters on the platform at Holbrook/Randolph station, a steady stride matters every day.

Appointments are available weekdays between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, helpful when someone else is giving you a ride.

What is vestibular therapy?

Vestibular therapy is a set of exercises for dizziness and imbalance linked to the inner ear and its connection with the eyes and brain. Your therapist pinpoints the positions and motions that set off symptoms, then prescribes gaze, head-turn, and standing drills that help the system recalibrate over time.

My teenager had a concussion playing sports. When should we call?

Once your child's physician has evaluated the injury, call (781) 961-4461 to ask about post-concussion therapy. The therapist checks symptoms, balance, and tolerance for activity, then plans a gradual progression back toward school demands and their sport. Each step is added only when the previous one is tolerated.

What is the LSVT BIG program?

Designed for Parkinson's disease, LSVT BIG repeats large, exaggerated whole-body motions in focused sessions. Practicing these amplified movements in sessions and at home is meant to carry over into walking, reaching, and other daily activities. Your therapist tailors the tasks to the parts of your day that feel hardest.
